Umberfold makes an ingest service for people who shoot on location and need their originals somewhere safe before the card goes back in the camera.
Why we started
Most of us have spent years on sets and in edit suites, and we kept seeing the same evening: a card full of footage, a hotel connection that drops every twenty minutes, and an upload tool that starts again from zero. Umberfold exists so that a dropped connection costs a few minutes instead of the night.
What we do about it
Files are sent in large parts, several at a time, each checked on arrival. A client that loses its connection asks the server what is missing and sends only that. Once a file is whole, we cut lightweight copies so an editor can start while the crew is still travelling.
